Frequently asked questions
Do I need API keys?
No. The free plan uses the AI accounts you are already signed in to in Chrome. API keys are optional and only for Pro’s own-API-key mode.
Can I use it to fact-check a ChatGPT answer?
Yes, that is the most common use. Paste the answer or the claim as your question, pick Learn & verify, and Gemini and DeepSeek check it independently before all three critique each other. The synthesis tells you what holds up, what does not, and which AI said what. It is not a source of truth: it catches confident mistakes and disagreements, and you still check anything important against a primary source.
How is this different from ChatHub, Sider or other multi-AI extensions?
Those show you several answers side by side and leave the comparing to you. Here the AIs read each other’s answers, critique them for one to three rounds, and one of them writes a single synthesis with the points of agreement, the remaining disagreements and who said what. You read one answer instead of three. It also runs in the tabs you are already signed in to, so the free plan needs no API key.
Which AIs does it work with?
ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), Gemini (gemini.google.com), DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com) and Claude (claude.ai). Free accounts work. Claude in a web tab is off by default; you can use Claude through its API with Pro.
Are my questions sent to you?
No. There is no server of ours in between. Your question goes only to the AI services you pick, and in a debate one AI’s answers go to the others with names removed.
Anonymous usage statistics are optional, off by default, and never include questions, answers or documents. Settings shows exactly what was sent.
Can my AI account get banned?
Possibly. Some services’ terms restrict automated use of their websites – Anthropic’s explicitly, which is why Claude is off by default. The extension works at a human pace, only while you watch, and stops at captchas and limits. If that risk is not acceptable to you, use own-API-key mode (Pro), which uses each vendor’s official API.
Why do the AI tabs jump to the front?
ChatGPT and DeepSeek do not render answers in background tabs, and Gemini does not send messages from one. The extension brings a tab forward for a few seconds, then returns you to where you were.
What happens when a site changes its layout?
The extension downloads a signed fix (data only, no code) within about 6 hours, or right away when a session hits the problem. You press Continue and the session resumes.
How long does a session take?
Usually 1–4 minutes for a quick question and a few minutes more with critique rounds or long plans. The form shows an estimate before you start.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome 116 or later on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Other Chromium browsers may work but are not tested.
Can I try Pro before buying?
Yes. Your first 3 sessions that need Pro – more than 3 AIs, more than 1 critique round, or your own API keys – run as a free trial. A session only counts when it finishes; cancelled or failed sessions do not count.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Email us within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full, no questions asked.
Is it affiliated with OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or DeepSeek?
No. AI Debate Council is an independent project. Product names are used only to say which services it works with.
